The Iowa Hawkeyes improved to 2-0 on the season by rolling past Syracruse 35-0 in Kinnick Stadium. The Hawks scored on four straight possessions in the opening half to take control of the game and the defense did not allow Syracruse a first down in the opening half.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says you never know what is going to happen and a night game gives you longer to worry about it. Ferentz says the team came out ready to go and played hard. He says the Hawks must be ready for a tough game against the Cyclones.

Ferentz says it’s always a tough, hard fought ballgame for both teams and he says his team still has a lot of things to work on. It was a big game for sophomore quarterback Jake Christensen. With Syracruse loading up to stop the run Cristensen completed 23-of-32 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns. Christensen says the offensive line did a great job, and the defense kept getting the ball back.
