A business in north-central Iowa will receive some national exposure today on Martha Stewart’s syndicated television program. Bud Wood is the president of McMurray Hatchery , a company in Webster City that produces rare breed chickens.
Wood says, "A few months ago, Martha called up, and had just moved to her new home and had built new chicken coops. She buys chicks from us and she wanted to re-populate her flocks. So, she asked if I could hand deliver the chicks to her new home and film a special with her that would be on her TV show."
Wood says the program will offer viewers some insight into raising chickens. Wood says he and Stewart talked about the different breeds of chickens, the equipment needed for raising chicks, and her new coops. "And there’s probably going to be some views of her new farm in upstate New York," Wood says.
McMurray Hatchery was first recognized in a Martha Stewart program several years ago. "About ten years ago," Wood says, "she sent a film crew (to Webster City) and they filmed inside the hatchery on hatch day." The Martha Stewart Living program airs on ABC-TV, weekdays at 9 A.M.
