Authorities have released the name of the southeast Iowa man who was found dead inside a home that burned earlier this week — next door to the home where his wife was sleeping. A house fire Monday that claimed the life of a Burlington man remains under investigation.

Sixty-one-year-old Bill Wilson died of smoke inhalation in the blaze that was reported just before 7 a.m. According to Burlington’s fire marshal, the cause of the fire is still undetermined. There were no smoke detectors found in the house. Two dogs also died in the fire. Authorities say Wilson was renovating the house.
