The nose dive of the Iowa football program continued over the weekend as the Hawkeyes suffered their seventh straight Big Ten loss, this one a 38-20 pounding at the hands of Indiana. Not only did the offense continue to struggle but a rash of special teams mistakes and foolish penalties helped Indiana jump out to a 21-0 first half lead.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says they also gave up too many sacks as every time they did something good, they did something to offset it. Hawkeye fans must be wondering when will the next Iowa win take place. It may not come any time soon. Next up is a visit to Penn State.

Ferentz says they’ve been down this road before and there are no magical answers, they just have to work harder, concentrate better and hopefully improve their play. Running back Albert Young had 94 yards on the ground and he says it is up to the seniors to provide leadership during this tough time. Young says it was a tough loss and it will be up to the seniors to keep pushing.

Iowa is 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten.
