Iowa needs to find some offense and fast. The Hawkeyes lost their fourth straight game on Saturday and their eighth straight in Big Ten play with a 27-7 setback at Penn State.

So inept was the Iowa offense that the Hawks Hawks had only 54 yards of total offense in the first three quarters. The defense is staring to wear down. Penn State rushed for 256 yards and passed for another 233 as the Nittany Lions won their first Big Ten game.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says they have to find a way to muster an offense as they played pretty good defense in the first half. Ferentz says they have to find a way to move the football, and he says that will come.

Next up the Hawks host an Illinois team that is the surprise of the league race after beating Wisconsin over the weekend. Ferentz says Illinois has a very veteran ballclub, and a maturing quarterback with playmakers at receiver and runningback. Ferentz says it’s their job now to catch the competition.

Linebacker Mike Humpal says the defense is staying positive believes the offense will come around. Humpal says the offense is trying hard and is younger than the defense. He says they’re still behind them and are not getting down.
