A former southwest Iowa teacher’s aide and coach is under arrest, charged with using the Internet to try to lure someone he thought was a teen into having sex. Kent Adamson of Creston was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with having over 20 Internet chats between January and July in an attempt to entice a minor into having sex.

Adamson also faces charges for transferring obscene material to a minor. According to authorities, Adamson admitted in July that he had engaged in the on-line conversations, but he claims he was just weaving a fantasy for what he thought was a 14-year-old female. Creston Schools Superintendent Tim Hood says Adamson has been on administrative leave since the beginning of the school year.

"Since then he has not been on campus at any of the district’s schools other than at an extracurricular event," Hood says. "…The district is not aware of any allegations of misconduct occurring at school. The district is not aware of any allegations of misconduct involving a school district student." Adamsom was booked into the Polk County Jail in Des Moines.
