The Vision Iowa board has asked officials in Davenport to submit a revised proposal on plans to develop the city’s riverfront. The city’s initial proposal, submitted in 2005, asked the board for $13.8 million. Vision Iowa board chairman Andy Anderson says, since then, Davenport’s plan for the riverfront has been in "limbo."

"So, it’s really sat in negotiations," Anderson says of Davenport’s grant application, "we’ve been over there and met with them several times, but there have just been these issues if parts of the project are actually going to be completed."

The original Davenport proposal included a hotel for the Isle of Capri’s new riverboat casino. However, Isle of Capri officials have since talked about making the casino a land-based facility. Anderson says, "The city and the mayor are working very hard to solidify what’s to be done, but there are a lot of decisions to be made."

The Vision Iowa board has given Davenport until January 1 to submit the revised plan for the RiverVision project.
