A Cedar Rapids company that makes animal nutrition products has opened a 10-million dollar building in Ankeny for its new company that will make products for humans. Paul Faganel, the president of Embria Health Sciences, says they’re just getting things ramped up.

Faganel says all the equipment is in place and they’re in the process of putting the equipment through its paces and testing it. He says they’ll go through several production runs and tests to be sure the product is the way they want it — so actual production won’t start until around the first of the year.

Faganel says it’s a large operation, but with only 10 employees. Faganel says the process is very automated and employees can control all aspects of the process from computer screens throughout the plant. He says they do anticipate adding three to five more people once they’re in full operation.

Faganel says the company’s main product is a health supplement called EpiCor. The Embria company is an offshoot of the Diamond Mills Company in Cedar Rapids.
