A win for Iowa has led to recognition for one of the Hawkeyes. Iowa freshman punter Ryan Donahue has been named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in Iowa’s 34-27 win over Michigan State last Saturday.

Donahue is a redshirt freshman from Evergreen Park, Illionois. He punted eight times for a 51.6-yard average against the Spartans. His kicks included a career-long 82-yard boot which ranks as the second-longest in Iowa history.

Donahue totaled 413 yards on eight punts while placing one kick inside the 20-yard line to help the Hawkeyes gain valuable field position. He produced four boots over 50 yards, and the 82-yarder was the longest kick by an Iowa punter since Lonnie Rodgers set the school record with an 83-yarder against Oregon State on Sept. 26, 1962.

Donahue is averaging 40.8 yards on 63 punts this season. He has put 19 punts inside the opponent 20-yard line.
