Two western Iowa women, who ran an in-home day care, could be facing time in prison after pleading guilty to child endangerment charges. Fifty-five year old Delilah Murphy and 28 year old Sandra Murphy both pleaded guilty this week to 32 counts of aggravated child endangerment. Each count carries a maximum of two years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 5. Prosecutors said the Murphys were not registered or licensed with the state, but had been providing care to almost 40 children out of their home in Council Bluffs. Parents of the kids were asked to leave them at the front door, leading them to believe the Murphys were only watching 10 children.

The state closed down the day care in August of last year, after allegations that the two women twisted the ears and pulled the hair of children left in their care.
