The Waterloo Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for a rash of home burglaries. In the last couple of months, about 20 residences in Waterloo have been burglarized. Most of the break-ins occurred on the west side of town.

The incidents happened during the week between seven A.M. and five P.M. the perpetrator rings the doorbell first to see if anyone is home, then kicks in the rear door. If the door is answered, he may tell the occupant that he is looking for someone or some false address.

Items taken during the break-ins include jewelry, cash and electronics. Police are asking residents to make sure their doors are locked, even if they are home, and are asking them to report any suspicious activity or strangers in the neighborhood.
