Police in Des Moines are looking for a motorist who dragged an officer after a routine stop early this morning. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m., when Officer Greg Trimble stopped a red Chevy Lumina just north of downtown Des Moines.

Police say the 37 year old Trimble was reaching into the car to prevent a woman from getting into the driver’s seat, when the woman stepped on the gas pedal while Trimble was clinging to her coat.

Officer Trimble was dragged for about 75 feet before he was able to free himself from the window. The car may have been going 40 mph at the time. Trimble was treated for scrapes and bruises. The driver of the car, described as a woman in her 20’s, is still being sought.
