The Iowa Hawkeyes close out the Big Ten race at home against Minnesota. Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz says the Hawkeyes strength is on defense and the Gopher’s is on offense, right now, so they both in the same boat.

Ferentz says Gopher defense is playing some young guys right now, and Iowa is playing some young guys on offense, so it will be interesting to see how that works out. Ferentz says the way they’re built right now, they will be unpredictable the next two weeks.

Minnesota is winless in the Big Ten but Ferentz says nothing has been easy for this Iowa team and doubts it will start, tomorrow. He says hopefully his team is smart enough to see that and will work to get the win.

Iowa State closes out the home season against Colorado and Cyclone coach Gene Chizik would like to see the seniors finish their home career with a win. He says it will be a special day for them as they’ve been here four or five days. Chizik says he told the team if they have any unselfish bones in their body, they’ll be playing for the seniors.

The Cyclones are coming off a win over Kansas State and would love to win their second straight game. Chizik says he said a few weeks ago he felt they would get a quality win somewhere, and he says if they could get two wins in a row, it would be huge in what they’re trying to do. 

The UNI Panthers can wrap up an unbeaten Gateway Conference season with a victory at home over Indiana State. The Panthers are 9-0 while the Sycamores enter with a record of 0-10.

Panther coach Mark Farley who says the Sycamores have played better as of late and have become more consistent in what they’re doing. Farley says they played very well against Youngstown State, showing that consistency.
