The Iowa Hawkeyes started strong then held on against Minnesota to claim a 21-16 victory and reclaim "Floyd of Rosedale". The Hawks jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and led 21-10 at the half. The win makes the Hawks eligible for a bowl but coach Kirk Ferentz believes they will need one more win to get a bid.

Ferentz says he is pretty sure it will take seven wins and they couldn’t get there without winning this one. He says it won’t be east to get the seventh win, but says the seniors have been giving good leadership

Iowa closes out the regular season with a non-conference matchup against Western Michigan. Ferentz says they’ve seen them on tape and they are a well-coached football team. He says the Big Ten has been a topsy-turvey league and to end up at 4-4 in the league makes him very happy.
