This is the first Thanksgiving for Chet Culver as the governor of the state, but the first family isn’t spending the holiday at the Terrace Hill governor’s mansion. Culver says they will go to Cedar Rapids where his mom and dad and grandparents are, and his wife’s family lives in Marion.

"Looking forward to a couple of days of getting together and celebrating all that we should be thankful for," Culver says. Culver says they’ll have the traditional meal and perhaps a game of football afterwards. "Most importantly it’s just a time to get caught up with cousins and relatives and friends," Culver says, "and I want to wish all Iowans a Happy Thanksgiving."
