Mason City police say no charges will be filed against the middle school students who recorded an alleged bullying incident and put it on the Internet. The video of eight boys who took turns pushing and pulling a younger student, forcing him to the ground several times, ended up on My-Space earlier this fall.

Police Captain Mike McKelvey says the incident was a serious one and officials did consider filing disorderly conduct charges, but they’ve decided against it. School officials last month said they had taken action against the students following the district’s policies regarding such incidents.

The father of the student allegedly harassed says filing charges may not be the best option in this incident, but he’s pleased with the department’s investigation.
