The Davenport-based Von Maur department store chain is responding to Wednesday’s fatal shootings at its Omaha outlet. Six of the eight people killed by the gunman were Von Maur employees, as are two of the wounded. The chain has set up a memorial fund for the victims, and a meeting place for employees and families.

The store in Omaha’s Westroads Mall is closed indefinitely, but all staff will continue to be paid. One of the dead employees: 36-year-old Angie Schuster, grew up in Dubuque and graduated from UNI.

Another Von Maur worker, 61-year-old Fred Wilson, is a Monroe native and a retired Iowa teacher. Wilson is in serious condition. Another Iowan, a shopper, was killed: 65-year-old John McDonald of Council Bluffs.
