The University of Iowa’s new president has been on the job for more than four months, but her official installation ceremony is scheduled for Sunday. Sally Mason was named the U-of- I’s 20th president in June. University spokesperson Steve Parrott says it took a while to coordinate the schedules of everyone that will be at the ceremony.

Parrott says the guests will include members of the Board of Regents, Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge, and Purdue University President Martin Jischke. Mason came to Iowa City after serving six years as Purdue provost. Sunday’s 3 p.m. ceremony will include an address from Mason.

"This will be an opportunity for her to begin to late out her vision for the University of Iowa," Parrott says of Mason’s speech. The event at Iowa City’s Hancher Auditorium is free and open to the public.

Parrott says the lobby doors will open at 2:15 p.m. and there will be reception following the ceremony.
