The crowd at Mike Huckabee’s camp in Iowa’s capitol city made lots of noise in response to the former Arkansas governor being declared the winner by several major networks. The numbers on the GOP side are: Huckabee out front with 31-percent, Mitt Romney at 23, Fred Thompson 13, John McCain 12. Again, Huckabee the projected winner.

As for the Democrats, it’s still a tight one. With nearly two-thirds reporting, Barack Obama is leading John Edwards and Hillary Clinton: Omaba at 35-percent, Edwards and Clinton both at 31.

Too much of a good thing — turnout’s very heavy in some areas. Romney supporter Chuck Davis says his precinct was overflowing with people and he’s holding out hope for a good finish for Romney.

Obama’s chief consultant –Bill Burton– charges some Obama backers were turned away from some precincts tonight as they’ve been too packed.

Carrie Giddins, spokeswoman for the Iowa Democratic Party, says the Obama campaign has NOT complained to party officials about this allegation.

Hillary Clinton told Radio Iowa earlier that her campaign staff has been the key to cementing a good showing tonight.
