Authorities have now released the name of the southwest Iowa farmer who died Friday when the tractor he was driving was struck by a truck in Audubon County. Sheriff’s officials say 48-year-old Brent Layne Christensen, of Elk Horn, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash located just of Highway 173, south of Kimballton.

Authorities say Christensen was traveling north on a 1994 John Deere tractor pulling a grain wagon, and was about to turn left onto 270th Street, when he was hit by a northbound 2004 International truck that was attempting to pass him. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch. Christensen was thrown from the tractor and pinned beneath the truck, being driven by 63-year-old Ronald Doonan, of Harlan. Doonan wasn’t hurt in the crash, which remains under investigation.
