The Iowa National Guard is re-dedicating the renovated readiness center in Sioux City this afternoon (Friday). Guard spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Greg Hapgood, says the facility was originally built in 1970.

He says approximately $760,000 was spent to add a 45-hundred square foot addition and the building’s heating and electrical systems and windows were upgraded. Hapgood says the building is used by several soldiers.

Hapgood says there’s a great deal of training that goes on to get soldiers ready for duty. And he says the facilities are used by the community for everything from parties to weddings. Hapgood says they’re encouraging everyone to attend the dedication.

Hapgood says it’s a great opportunity to show the facility off to the public and say thank-you for making it possible. The ceremony begins at one o-clock today.
