Congressman Dave Loebsack is joining the top two Democrats in Iowa and endorsing Leonard Boswell’s bid for another term in congress. Ed Fallon of Des Moines is challenging Boswell in the Democratic primary in June and while Loebsack shares some of the same ideological beliefs as Fallon, he’s backing Boswell.

"I’ve known both of them for a long time," Loebsack says. "…I have to say that Congressman Boswell has been very good to me. He’s been very good to Iowa…He’s served as a mentor of sorts. I look up to him in many ways." Boswell, who is 74 years old, is seeking his seventh term in the U.S. House.

Fallon ran for governor in 2002 and won key counties in the third congressional district, although he lost the statewide primary to Chet Culver. Loebsack made his remarks on Iowa Public Television.
