Drake is not the only team on a school record winning streak. William Penn snapped a 40-year old mark by claiming its 12th consecutive victory on Wednesday night with a 91-88 win at Mount Mercy. the Statesmen are 20-2 overall and have climbed to fifth in the latest NAIA division two poll.

Penn coach John Henry says they were supposed to loose a couple of times, but found a way to win, and he says that’s what championship teams do. He says with each close win the confidence level has grown. They won a game against Viterbo at the buzzer a few weeks ago, and he says that helped the other night in another close game. Henry says it’s a great feeling.

Henry says their strength is on the defensive end, as it is the best defensive team they’ve seen in some time. He says they were leading in field goal percentage defense until the game the other nigh.

Penn will try to build that winning streak at home, tonight, against Iowa Wesleyan.
