The Morningside men should retain their number one ranking in the next NAIA division two poll. The Mustangs remained unbeaten but just barely after a 78-69 overtime win at Concordia of Nebraska. The Mustangs are now 23-0 on the season but coach Jim Sykes says his team is not focused on its ranking.

He says their goal coming in was to win the conference and get the automatic bid to the tournament, and he says if they continue doing what they need to do, the other stuff will take care of itself. While pleased with the record Sykes says how good this season will be is yet to be determined. Sykes says you "can’t sit and reflect on the past, or the future will eat us up."

The Mustangs face a motivated opponent every night out and Sykes says that won’t change. He says they will continue to get everyone’s best shot, and that’s where you want to be. Morningside returns to action on Wednesday night at Dakota Wesleyan.
