The state council put together to study ways to reduce greenhouse gases meets again today. Jason Marcel of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says this is the third meeting of the Iowa Climate Change Advisory Council (ICCAC).

Marcel says they have now really "dived into the details" of all the policy options for reducing greenhouse gases in the state. "So they’re at a critical point in basically prioritizing those policy options before they move forward with investigating the impacts, both economically and both total of greenhouse gas emissions wise in terms of getting the most bang for their buck," Marcel says.

Marcel says the council will take a closer look and begin narrowing their options at this meeting. He says they’ve divided into five subcommittees and each of the five will report on the priorities that they believe should be at the top and voted on. The meeting today will include times for public comment at noon and at three p.m. Marcel says this is an issue where they gotten a "fair amount" of input from the public.

Marcel says they’d always like to hear more, as they hold more meetings throughout the state. Marcel says you can find out a lot about the issue on-line. He says you can go to the Climate Change Advisory website , and you can find meeting schedules and the documents the council has been reviewing. The meeting will be held in the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Air Quality Bureau at 7900 Hickman Road in Urbandale.
