Union County officials have released the name of the person killed in a crash east of Creston Monday. Officials say just past 3:30 Monday afternoon, Ruby Belew of Creston was driving west on U.S. Highway 34 and entered an icy patch on the roadway at the intersection of Highway 34 and Lark Avenue.

Belew lost control of the mini-van she was driving and spun around, sliding across the center line and into the path of a pickup truck driven by Michael Grismore of Osceola. Belew’s min-van was pushed into the south ditch while the Grismore pickup remained on the roadway. Belew died as a result of the accident while both Grismore and a passenger in Belew’s vehicle, Monica Belew, were taken to the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston for treatment of injuries. No charges were filed.
