Three people were found dead in a garage in eastern Iowa’s Jackson County Wednesday. Jim Saunders, a spokesperson for the Iowa Department of Public Safety, says the incident took place in a rural area outside the town of La Motte.

Saunders says an adult male and two children were found inside a car located in the closed garage. They’re identified as 35-year-old Andrew Voss and his two children, 4-year old Isaac Voss and 19-month-old Rachel Voss. It appears the incident could be a case of homicide/suicide, but officials won’t know for certain until autopsies are conducted on Friday.

"At this point, we don’t have any evidence of forced entry or a break-in and there were no obvious, visible signs of trauma to any of the three victims," Saunders said. The children were visiting their father, who lived alone at the home where the three were found. Voss’ estranged wife, Kelly Voss, had asked the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department to check on the children after they were not returned to her custody at the time she expected.
