The Drake men gave their seeding prospects for the NCAA Tournament a huge boost over the weekend with a thrilling 71-64 win at number 8 Butler as part of the bracket busters. Sophomore guard Josh Young poured in a career high 25 points and was fouled on a three point attempt late in the game with the Bulldogs clinging to a two point lead.

It was Drake’s first victory over a top ten team since back in 1982 and coach Keno Davis said on on his postgame show on KRNT the he was happy with the way his team handled the national spotlight. Davis says he was worried how his team would handle the national exposure in a tough place to play, but was pleased they way they played.

Butler led by four midway through the second half but the Bulldogs took the lead for good with a 9-0 run. The Bulldogs are now 24-3 overall and even if they don’t win the Missouir Valley Conference  post-season tournament.

Saturday’s win should help make selection Sunday much easier for the Bulldogs who begin the final week of the regular season tomorrow night when they visit Missouri state. after that the Bulldogs will close out the home schedule this weekend against Wichita state.
