Top ranked Davenport Assumption showed why it is heavily favored to win the 2A championship. The Lady Knights roared out to a 21-2 lead at the end of one quarter of play in a 63-44 win over Unity Christian. Assumption coach Todd Borrison was hoping for a quick start and got it.
Unity Christian did not throw in the towel and instead opened the second quarter with a 12-0 run to get back in the game.
Points in the paint were a huge factor in the outcome as Assumption scored 38 to just 12 for Unity. Assumption also had a 44-26 rebounding advantage.
