The UNI women open the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament later tonight in St. Charles, Missouri, when they take on Wichita State. The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 12-16.

UNI coach Tanya Warren says the Shockers are playing very well and have had some close games recently. At one point this season the Panthers were 6-11 but they finished 5-4 during the second half of the Valley race. Warren says their inside-outside game has allowed them to get better.

Warren says the Panthers gained confidence as the season progressed. Warren says with the balance in the Valley race and the tournament moving to a neutral site there are more teams who have a shot to win it.
