The Iowa Supreme Court has waded into a dispute between the City of Okoboji and a familiar restaurant in the city.

The case revolves around the 60-year-old "O’Farrell Sisters" restaurant, a popular landmark in Okoboji that overlooks a bay on the lake. The restaurant’s operators let its liquor license expire in 1994 and stopped serving alcohol. A decade later, Leo Parks bought the restaurant and applied for a liquor license to be able to serve alcohol to dinner guests, but the city said no, citing fears that Parks would turn the place into a tavern.

The state’s highest court has essentially ruled that Parks should get a license to serve alcohol to patrons of his restaurant.
