The Iowa State Patrol is asking for the public’s help after a trooper’s vehicle was struck by a suspected drunk driver. The incident happed at 3 a.m. Sunday near Council Bluffs when Trooper Marty McCreedy was attempting to stop a motorist that was driving erratically on Interstate 80 near the interchange with I-29. McCreedy says the red Chevrolet extended cab pickup he was pursuing went into a ditch. As it re-entered the roadway, the pickup struck McCreedy’s patrol car, went back in the ditch, across the median and then eastbound on I-80. Trooper McCreedy struck a barrier in the median and the suspect vehicle was last seen exiting the interstate at South 24th Street in Council Bluffs.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the Iowa State Patrol at 712-769-2395. The truck had a chrome tool box in the rear, two stickers in the back window and the word "Chevrolet" in black lettering on the tailgate. It’s also believed the pickup has damage to the passenger side of the cab.

Trooper McCreedy was injured in the crash. He was treated and released from an Omaha hospital.
