The momentum from last year’s record setting season has carried over for the Northwestern College baseball team. Seven position players and two starting pitchers are back for coach Brian Wede’s team and the Red Raiders are off to a 9-1 start to the Great Plains Conference race and stand 16-8 overall.

Wede says they’ve been competitive and have learned alot about their pitching staff. Wede has had to work in several new starters to the pitching rotation. He says they are coming along, although the weather has hurt them by limiting how much they can pitch in non-conference games.

Just getting games played has been a chore with the wintry type conditions that continue to hang around. Wede says they work hard to make the schedule and it doesn’t end up mattering anyway.

Northwestern visits Dakota Wesleyan for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
