The William Penn softball team is relying more on offense as they make a run at another Midwest Collegiate Conference championship. The Lady Statesmen lost Meghan Oden and her 30 victories from last year’s team that made it to the NAIA national tournament. Penn coach Mike Christner is relying on some new pitchers this season and it has taken them a little while to adjust to the step up. Christner says he’s pleased with the progress.

Penn is 20-14 overall and offense has been a major factor. The Lady Statesmen are hitting .342 as a team and Christner says with good power in the lineup he has been using different strategy. Christner says as the pitching staff gains experience this team will make more progress.

William Penn visits Grand View on Thursday.
