The UNI track and field team is battling a number of injuries right now but the Panthers hope to make some more noise at the Drake Relays this week. The Panthers had their best showing ever at Drake in 2007.
UNI coach Chris Bucknam says they are going to defend the titles they won last year, a record six titles. Bucknam says he doesn’t know if they can win them all again, but they are going to go down and make some noise. He says with Drake hosting the NCAA championships this summer the competition will be even tougher.
Bucknam says there will be a few more teams coming in to see what the venue is like. He says they saw that at a meet in Fayetteville, which will host a future NCAA championship. Bucknam says there will be a number of Panthers in individual events.
