It was a year ago today that Missouri Valley was hit by a devastating flood. Missouri Valley Mayor Clint Sergeant says it was a devastating event and residents are still trying to pick up the pieces.

"We’ve gone from being victims to actually survivors," he says. "We’re still in the recovery process." While life has returned to normal for most residents in Missouri Valley, a few are still struggling.

"There are several homeowners that are still currently in the rebuilding aspect of coming back home," the mayor says. Sergeant and other Missouri Valley officials are working with the Army Corps of Engineers to develop a plan to protect the community from future floods.
