Iowa Speedway designer Rusty Wallace says ticket sales for next month’s Iowa Corn 250 are running slightly behind last year. The Indy Racing League makes its second straight appearance June 20th through the 22nd.

Wallace says the economy and high fuel prices are hurting them a little bit, and he says last year was the first year and this year they have to work a little harder to get people out.

Wallace says the competition for the Indy car race should be twice as good this year. Wallace says numerous changes to the set up of the cars should make for even better racing. They developed a new tire and wing package for the cars and he says all of the drivers tell him the changes will make the racing better.

And Wallace says the parking situation around the speedway will be vastly improved. Wallace says it rained right before the race last year and there was all kinds of mud, but he says they’ve fixed that and he promises there won’t be any problems with parking.
