The State high school track and field championships open a three day run in Drake Stadium on Thursday morning. The North Tama girls will be in search of a third straight 1A team title and the Redhawks are led by multiple state champions Brook and Blaire Dinsdale.

North Tama coach Kent Hanser says the Dinsdales are "special people" who are hard to match by anybody. Hanser was asked about the possibility of winning three in a row, and says they’ll take it race by race, and if they can accomplish it, it will be amazing.

Hanser says they will have plenty of competition in the 1A race, and says a big advantage for his team is experience.

The Redhawks have qualified for 13 events. The last 1-A team to win three in a row was the Sigourney team from 1990-92. Tipton has won the last four team titles in class 2A.
