The summer sports season at Aplington-Parkersburg has come to a halt in the wake of Sunday’s tornado. The high school in Parkersburg as well as the athletic facilities were destroyed according to principal Dave Meyer who says they are looking for alternatives for the baseball and softball teams.

Meyer says the teams want to finish their schedules. He says baseball field is "totally destroyed" and the softball field is gone, so they will try to play the games on the road and will do everything they can to finish the season.

The football stadium also sustained heavy damage but Meyer is hopeful the school’s football team will be able to play there next season. He says the goal is to use the site in Parkersburg because it has always been a draw for the community, and the fans will want to see games there, and the kids will want to play on the field. Meyer says they will do everything they can to make it possible to play there.
