For some Parkersburg residents, one of the last things on their minds as they continue to clean up from last week’s tornado may be voting in Tuesday’s primary election.

Butler County Deputy Auditor Mary Brouwer says they had to move the election from a building that was destroyed by the tornado. She says the original polling place was First State Bank, which was destroyed so they moved the polling place to the clubhouse of the Beaver Meadows Golf and Country Club.

Brouwer says it’s was no trouble finding a safe and secure place to hold the primary election. Brouwer says she really can’t judge how many people will turn out to vote since they have plenty of things on their minds and many folks may not even have a car to get to the polling place.

Besides voting for a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Butler County Republicans will be deciding on their candidates for county sheriff and county auditor in the November general election. Voters in other parts of the county, not Parkersburg and New Hartford, will also be deciding on who the candidates will be for a county supervisor’s seat.
