Indy car driver Tony Kanaan predicts a more exciting Iowa Corn 250 next week at the Iowa Speedway. Dario Franchiti won last year’s inagural race which featured high speeds but very little passing. Kanaan says that won’t be the case in this year’s event.

He says there wasn’t a lot of passing last year, but this year they’re adding more cars and he says with more cars together, there will be more passing. Kanaan says the drivers discovered quickly last year that the Iowa Speedway is a physically demanding track. The track is so short that the drivers feel a lot of G-forces, and he says there are short straightaways, giving the drivers little rest.

After posting five victories in 2007, Kanaan is still searching for his first win of the season. He hopes Iowa will break that string. Kanaan says he’s been racing a long time and says season are different, as sometimes the wins come early, sometimes mid-season, and sometimes lat season. The Indy cars begin practice runs on June 20th and the race is on the 22nd.
