A new drug card is being offered to Iowans which developers say could save you money on prescription drugs. Lila Cedotal, the development director for the Iowa Drug Card, says it’s free. Cedotal says everyone is eligible for the card regardless of age and income. She says you go to Iowadrugcard.com and enter you name and print off your new card in less than one minute.

Cedotal says the cards are preloaded and ready to use. If you don’t have internet access, you can go to a K-Mart pharmacy and get a card. Cedotal says drug companies and pharmacies support the card. She says the card was developed for the uninsured or underinsured, but everyone can use it and she says it will help people with insurance on drugs not covered by insurance, or those who have a high deductible, or on Medicare part B.

Cedotal says the website has lots of good information.Cedotal says there’s a medication pricing tool, so you can enter in your prescription and see home much you’re going to save. She says they cover brand name and generics and says most savings average 30-percent, although on some generics that is as much as 70%. There’s also a pharmacy finding tool that allows you to see if your pharmacy is in the network. Cedotal says the card is accepted at over 50,000 national and regional pharmacies around the country.
