The Polk County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a cowboy bandit. The department reports that deputies were called to a home southeast of the Des Moines in the suburb of Pleasant Hill.

The two elderly residents of the home say a man knocked on their door early this morning and told them he’d just hit a cow and needed to use their phone. Once they let the man inside, he pulled a gun on them an used a radio to call a female accomplice.

The two searched the home for money before leaving. The Sheriff’s department says it’s looking for a white male in his 30’s that was dressed in western clothing –including a large belt buckle and dark cowboy hat. The victims were not injured and have asked that their names not be released as they fear for their safety. Deputies are helping them determine if anything was stolen.
