The fall semester begins Wednesday at Iowa Central Community College, as its board starts searching for a new president. Last week, Bob Paxton submitted his resignation to the board after a picture appeared in the August 23rd Des Moines Register showing him with a keg above a woman’s head at Lake Okoboji on July 4th.

Paxton has been the president of Iowa Central with campuses in Fort Dodge, Webster City and Storm Lake since November,1994. During his 13 years, Paxton oversaw an increase in enrollment at Iowa Central, a new Homeland Security Training Center and the new Bioscience and Health Center. Last week, the Iowa Central board awarded a $400,000 dollar severance package to Paxton.

As the search for a new Iowa Central president begins, Chuck Peterson will be the liaison for the school until a new president is named. Peterson is a former vice president of finance for Iowa Central.
