There is a rated matchup in class 2A as top ranked Solon hosts a fourth ranked Sigourney-Keota team that rallied to edge Pekin in their opener.

Sigourney-Keota coach Mark Schilb says they were down 19-0 against a good team, but hung in and fought to the end. Schilb says Solon will be a tough matchup as they have great skill players and will provide a good test.

Schilb says the Spartan offense will be tough to stop. He says you "pick your poison" on who you want to try and stop.

In class 1A, ninth ranked Grundy Center is on the road at South Hardin. Coach Bob Munson’s team opened with a victory over West Hancock and would like to make a run at the playoffs this season. He says they started about 8 sophomores last year and now they are juniors and they hope to get into the top four and the playoffs.

Munson says his team will be tested this evening, as he says they are a good football team that is well coached.
