Investigators say a fire that badly damaged a community building in south-central Iowa last month was intentionally set. The State Fire Marshal’s Office blames arson for the August 5th fire in Lacona.

The fire caused about $500,000 in damage to a building that houses the fire department, library, City Hall and a barbershop. There were no injuries. There’s no word of any suspects in the case. Lacona is located in Warren County and has a population of around 300 people. The city plans to rebuild the municipal building.
