Archrivals Montezuma and BGM meet in a Class A, District six match-up in Brooklyn. BGM coach Jerrod Burns says it’s been awhile since the Bears have beaten the Braves. Burns says it’s been since 1992, so they are emphasizing the need to be ready to go.

Burns says Montezuma is a tough, tough football team. Montezuma has won its last two games after an opening game loss to Iowa Valley. Braves head coach Ryan Van Veen says it’s a rivalry game where both teams get up to play, and the stats mean nothing, as the team that wins gets a boost.

Van Veen who knows BGM is a good team after playing North Tama to a 12-6 game last Friday. Van Veen says North Tama is one of the best teams in 1A, so BGM will feel good about that game. The Bears enter the game 1-2 on the season.
