Shenandoah High School is under lockdown after a student was reported with a firearm on campus. No shots were fired and no gun was found, but a school-wide search is underway of every locker and possible hiding place.

Becky Pringle is principal of the nearby Shenandoah Elementary School, which is also locked down. Pringle urges parents not to come to the building to try to pick up their kids as the doors are locked and no one is being let in or out. Students are in class as usual. She says the lockdown impacts both school buildings in town.

Pringle says the students don’t know what’s going on but each teacher has personally been advised. Shendandoah police have reportedly taken one student into custody for questioning. The incident began this morning when someone called 9-1-1 and reported a student at the high school had a gun.
