Jesus Garcia Two people from Des Moines are charged with first-degree murder after shooting into a home early Sunday and killing a man. Police spokesman, Vince Valdez, says 31-year-old Brandy Ratliff was struck by the shots and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Valdez says 35-year-old Jesus Garcia and his nephew 13-year-old Alfredo Garcia are charged in his killing. Valdez says he doesn’t know what the reason was for the shooting, but there was "some sort of dispute between the two parties there". Valdez says the teen and his uncle were arrested after an eyewitness report.

Alfredo Garcia Valdez says a Des Moines officer who responded to the shooting saw a couple of people in the area that turned out to be witnesses to the shooting, and implicated the Garcias. Valdez says investigators are still piecing together the details that led to the shooting.
