A Sioux City woman is recovering after being shot her estranged husband last night. Sioux City police say they got a 9-1-1 call from 32-year-old Melissa Powell late Wednesday. Police say Powell was shot by her estranged husband Dan Powell who was chasing her in the downtown area.
Police say Powell rammed his wife’s car and as officers arrived, he got out and fired several shots at his wife’s vehicle. Dan Powell fled in his car across the parking lot and then stopped. Police say there was a short standoff with Powell before he shot himself. A Sioux City hospital spokesperson says Dan Powell died and Melissa Powell was in fair condition.
